Allied Concrete Products: Bank of Essex Headquarters Building

Allied Concrete Products, LLC

Owner: Bank of Essex, Tappahannock, VA
Architect: Architects Dayton, Thompson & Associates, PC
General Contractor: Graybeale Construction, Inc.
Completed: August 2006
Size: 2 stories, 15,000 GSF

Description: Brick, precast stone veneer with CMU back-up, aluminum-clad windows, asphalt shingle roof, wood/steel frame, open-web wood I-joists with Viroc subfloor.

First floor serves as main banking hall, complete with drive-up banking, tellers, vault, offices and support functions. Second floor serves as Bank’s administrative HQ, including executive offices, board room and support services. HVAC equipment is housed in attic, including a closed-loop chiller system.

Second floor structural system employed Viroc cement composite structural sheathing panels over wood I-joists, in lieu of plywood. This eliminated the need for a flowable thin subfloor, eliminating the cure time and expense of a two-component system.
